Discover the World of Backpacking

The Basic Backpacking Course for 2027 consists of seven classroom sessions, a local Day Hike, a Car Camping weekend, and two weekend Backpack Outings. The goal of the course is to prepare you to organize and lead your own backpacking trips with safety and confidence.

Next Class Schedule:
7 Classroom Sessions Tuesdays, March 9- April 20
Day Hike Saturday March 13, 2027
Car Camp March 20-21, 2027
Backpack Weekends April 3-4 & April 17-18 2027

I decided to take this course to gain confidence in my abilities backpacking, and felt like I gained that and more along the way. The hands-on approach, as well as each person in the group sharing their knowledge and gear to try out, really made this be a sustainable approach to learning.
